All Smiles!

Field Trip

Jalen had his first field trip last Friday. He went to Phillip's Farm in Cary, which has different activities for the kids (like duck races, bounce house, pedal cars, slide), a corn maze, and a hay ride. I went as a volunteer and Nick met us there on his lunch to see him. We walked around with him and another friend in his class. Jalen's biggest accomplishment that day was riding the bus for the first time. He was a little scared, but he did it and loved it. Mommy isn't ready for him to ride it every day, by any means! He ate lunch at the farm and everything. He had a great time and I was glad I was able to go and see him on his first field trip!

Halloween Treats

Jalen had cooking yesterday. The theme this week was Halloween Treats and he got to wear his costume to class. They made Mummy Toes (hot dogs wrapped in a tortilla with ketchup), Witches Brooms (pretzels wrapped with fruit roll-ups), and Eyeballs (dyed pudding, lifesaver, and jellybean frozen). He loved it and enjoys every cooking class.

Wear your costume to class!

Loves to participate!

Fall

Jalen and I carved a pumpkin the beginning of this month and it didn't take long for it to rot away! We'd bought two pumpkins that day and we didn't realize this one didn't stand up straight. When we were at Target we found Yoda so we turned the pumpkin into Yoda! This is the 'new' carving way. They have so many of these characters. Funny because Brooklyn had one and so did Ry!

Jalen has been enjoying the cooler weather. We went to the park the other night and he went all the way across the monkey bars! I was so amazed and I think he was too. It is crazy how big he is getting! He talks non-stop. We say he inherited that from his Ki!

Elmo

After soccer on Saturday, Jalen wanted to go eat. We decided to go to El Dorado, which was absolutely disgusting, but that is beside the point. At Learning Express, they had Elmo. We stopped by and got a picture with him. Where his mouth is, is the screen for the person to breathe through, but the person was quite short and you could see their whole head. After we walked away, Jalen said "that Elmo was a fake. Where's the real Elmo? Are all of them fakes?" Because I didn't want to ruin his childhood, I said it was a fake, but the real one lives on Sesame Street and the other real characters are in Disney World.

Soccer

Jalen had soccer yesterday morning and did great. He is really getting into it. Last year when they would call water break we couldn't get him to leave to go back to play some more, this year we can't even get him to drink water! He's developing so much and becoming such a big boy. So proud of him.

Lady & Izzy

Lady loves to chew, but for some reason the dog has found seashells in the back yard from years ago! If there is something to be found, she will find it! Crazy dog!

Ahh...

...It's Captain Rex!

Around the World in One Night

Jalen went to cooking class and, yet again, had a blast. He loves to cook and I am so proud that he tried the egg rolls with cabbage! He enjoyed chopping the veggies and sauté them. Next Saturday we go to the Halloween treats class!

Pumpkin Carving -- Take 1

When I got home from work tonight, Jalen had remembered that I said we'd decorate for Halloween tonight. So we went to Trader Joe's and got some pumpkins! We got 2 big ones, 2 little white ones, 2 little orange ones, and two medium white ones. Jalen didn't like getting the guts out too much. He said it was 'slimey' and 'disgusting.' He used a spoon and got as much out as he could. He drew the face and I attempted to carve it out. J'ster J was born! Jalen named his pumpkin and enjoys talking to him.
